TNF100 2017 (100K, 5800mD+). Halfway up a big climb to Tai Mo Shan - I was limping from a ligament strain in the foot I got 10 days before the race. I was very cold, I was nauseous, I was spent.
I turned back and DNF'd.
I grew up in Hong Kong, and before looking up at the mountains, I looked out at the sea, windsurfing and sailing for many years.
I am definitely not an elite runner, but I am a passionate and stubborn one, which comes in pretty handy in ultra-running I hear.
Ultra-running is not supposed to be easy. In some cases, it has not been pretty.
But, I have learned a lot about myself from these low moments, and I have grown not just as an athlete, but as a father, as a husband, and now as a coach.
So I hope that by sharing some of my experiences, the good or bad and the ugly, you can join me on my journey to build a stronger grittier me...and hopefully you too.
